Mat trained as an architect at Sheffield University and the Royal College of Art. His interest in the built environment is evident in the subject matter of his paintings, the majority of which tell the story of people and places through the fabric and decay of their buildings. Mat has travelled the world with sketchbook and watercolour palette. He aims to portray the unique character of each country he visits in the colour, form and texture of his art.
